Just been looking back through our lingerie shoot images and came across this gorgeous one of Victoria Fergusson Accessories exquisite earrings in ‘India’
Description from Victoria’s website… ‘A lustrous pear pearl drop adorned with a beautiful rose or yellow gold pointy petal bead cap and tiny seed pearl. These earrings would make the perfect gift for your bridesmaids. Drop measures 17mm.’
I am very excited to see our latest styled shoot featured on the very fabulous Want That Wedding wedding blog, launching today. I had so much fun organising this one and pulling my dream team together again to create something feminine, sexy and powerful. Something which I think we all need to celebrate and be reminded of now and again… we’re women and we have incredible strength.
“You know what’s really, powerfully sexy? A sense of humour. A taste for adventure. A healthy glow. Hips to grab on to. Openness. Confidence. Humility. Appetite. Intuition. … Smart-ass comebacks. Presence. A quick wit. Dirty jokes told by an innocent-looking lady. … A storyteller. A genius. A doctor. A new mother. A woman who realises how beautiful she is”. ~ Courtney E. Martin
Watch my blog closely in the next few weeks as I’ll be revealing how I created model Jess’s sensual makeup design.
Ever wondered what it would be like to have your bridal makeup professionally applied? Well, check out my video from last year on just that! A feel good video that will hopefully get you excited to book and try a wedding makeup artist near you x
I have known Jo for about three years now and I am always surprised at what beautiful creations she has made. Inspiring me all the time to want to grow this rose, or that peony in my garden just so I can piece together that bit of perfection for myself. She’s so talented and boy does she know her stuff! Not just what is trending right now on the wedding flower circuit, but also what’s install for the following year – always keeping her finger on the pulse…which believe me, is a real talent.
Jo is also incredibly nice and you always just want to talk to her forever. She works hard to understand exactly what you want from your wedding flowers, and puts into words what you can’t express or what you don’t know. She is also amazing at making suggestions you might not have thought of like beautiful candles, or tiny flower jars attached to chairs down the aisle (my personal favourite)
Jo is just an immensely talented lady, and what’s more she is a champion of local wedding suppliers – the best of all of us x
Something which I am really proud about is that I have never been late for any appointment with my clients. Be it for a bridal makeup trial or the actual wedding, I personally feel that if I am late or haven’t planned my journey well, or can’t even find the house for the trial then what faith does that in-still into the bride for the day of the wedding. There are just certain things that you expect from your suppliers – after all that is what your paying a premium for isn’t it? And every bride should expect the highest excellence from their wedding suppliers – from the venue to the florist. And if you don’t, ask yourself ‘what do I need to do to get that from them’.
I often think that couples are too afraid to ask/demand exactly what they want from their suppliers, thinking that they are limited on who they can get in the local area. Remember that you are the customer and any supplier worth their weight will do everything they can to make sure your day is unique in all the best ways! It could be just a quick text, chat or email but whatever you want to say and ask for do it now before it all kicks off.
Sometimes it’s ok to have a little bridezilla moment!! x
Last year I decided to embark on making a promotional wedding makeup video, to showcase what I do basically. I wanted the video to have an air of wedding morning excitement, whilst showing potential clients what is actually involved ‘behind the scenes’ and how much of my skill I put into every single bridal makeup design. I also wanted to get a couple of local businesses to provide flowers and a very bridal’y’ background in the form of Bleu Bridal Gowns boutique in Southampton. The striking red roses were from Jo Hicks Flowers in Hythe.
I still get chills every time I watch the video as it is a statement to the support I feel I have from other wedding suppliers, and how far I have built my business. So what’s next? Well I’m thinking of doing a set of tutorial videos showing the very basics of looking after your makeup & brushes, and how I create some of my designs.
