🌺 A gorgeous bridesmaid design for Rebecca’s girl gang for her Spring wedding at Chewton Glen.  Rebecca wanted her girlies to have soft peach cheeks, a pink lip and delicately shaded eyes – which is a perfect combination to subtly tie everything together.  This design also worked well in matching their soft blue/grey bridesmaids gowns from Maid to Measure x

Rebecca and her New Forest wedding at Chewton Glen

On Friday I had the pleasure of designing Rebecca’s bridal makeup for her wedding at Chewton Glen, and also provided hair and makeup services for her evening soiree event at another New Forest venue, Balmer Lawn.  Rebecca wanted her makeup to be delicate, soft and natural so as not to scare or worry her other half, who wanted her to remain quite bare-faced.  We spoke in depth about creating something that suited both parties and yet, was good enough to last and be gorgeous in photographs.

I think the final result is simply amazing and really suits Rebecca’s naturally flawless skin and green eyes.  As Rebecca isn’t really a lipstick person I used a really subtle blend of a moisturising lipstick in Chanel 54 Boy – a shade my bride’s just love x

Jasmine and her wedding at Chewton Glen

Today I had the pleasure of doing the bridal makeup for Jasmine at Chewton Glen.  Nestled just outside the New Forest boundary, Chewton Glen is one of my favourite wedding venues to work in not leat because I always end up with the most stunning brides, and today was no objection.  Jasmine was the most loveliest, laid back bride who was happy to be led by me when it came to the bridal design.  The only brief she gave me was make it pink!  So I definitely did that!

I created Jasmine’s design using tarte cosmetic palettes in various pink shades, and lined the eyes softening any harsh edges.  Adding false eyelashes, I then moved onto creating a flawless base for Jasmine and gave her pink cheeks and lips x

Facials – how they work, how often you need one and where in the New Forest to get one done

My wonderful bridal clients will often ask my thoughts on facials, and whether having a regular treatment will improve the condition of their skin before the wedding day.  I LOVE a facial.  There’s something about the relaxing movements, gorgeous smelling oils and soft music that just makes me feel completely light headed for the rest of the day.  So I highly recommend getting one or two facials done before the wedding – if not just to chill out for an hour or so!

What I would say though is that facials, by their nature, are designed to bring toxins to the surface of the skin.  So don’t be surprised if a couple of days after your facial you have a breakout.  That’s why I often say to my bridal clients not to have a facial done too close to the wedding date.  2-3 weeks before the wedding is the perfect time frame.  The reason facials can cause breakouts is through the various applied massage techniques done by your therapist – the pressure stimulates blood to the surface of the skin, bringing with it all those naughty toxins.  Which is great if you’re wanting to have a thorough detox, not great if you have an important event coming up… so be warned!

A facial is essentially a multi-step skin treatment that is one of the best ways to take care of your skin.  A facial cleanses, exfoliates, and nourishes the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion and can help your skin look younger.  You also receive advice on the best way to take care of your skin.  A facial works best when it is part of an on-going program of skin care.  Try to have a facial at least four times a year, as the season changes. You may need it more frequently if you are trying to clear up a case of acne, especially at the beginning.  Otherwise, once a month is plenty.
