Today I had the great pleasure of doing Ruth’s bridal makeup for her classically beautiful wedding at Bartley Lodge Hotel, located in the New Forest. And what a wonderful day for it! Sunny, but not too hot with a little cloud – perfect for those gorgeous wedding photographs.
When I met Ruth for her bridal makeup trial, she wanted something glamorous yet not too ‘over done’ – wonderfully natural looking, great for photographs and for meeting her wedding guests. Not one for being afraid of wearing makeup, Ruth was a pleasure to work with as she seemed to ‘get’ a lot of the reasons behind using certain products and has a genuine interest in makeup, which always makes it fun. Ruth wanted a deep smokey eye, so I kept the look more bridal by using browns instead of black. Instead opting for a nicely lined eye and thicker false eyelashes to create that depth, which made the look less ‘clubby’. Next I used a warm hue for the foundation, as with the sun this summer everyone is a little more tanned than usual! Finishing with lashings of blusher in Peony by Bobbi Brown and a coat of lipstick by Rosie for Autograph in Lady Rose – Ruth’s natural glam look was finished x
