When I was approached by Matt Lee, the photographer and brain box behind this forest shoot, he said go wild!! Which, as a makeup artist, is the most exciting and thrilling words you can ever hear from a fellow creative. Matt also trusted me and my work which was deeply flattering, yet I still felt the pressure to make his project come alive. I decided early on to follow nature and keep along the deep browns, ambers and soft yellows found across The New Forest – which was to be the backdrop and inspiration for the shoot.
So here is how I did it! I started of by creating a deep brown smokey eye using ambers and peach toned eyeshadows to soften any harsh edges. I slightly extended the shadow out of the corners of the eyes to give that dramatic look and then lined the eyes in a black/brown mix of eyeliner and shadow. Finishing with a flick of mascara and applying a thick set of eyelashes. I then applied a bespoke foundation mix I had made especially for Meg and filled in her brows to a natural colour and shape. Using bronzer as both a contour and blusher I finished Meg’s look with Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk x
