FAQs

What exactly happens at a hair, and or makeup trial?

The hair and or makeup trial is held approximately 6 weeks before your wedding day. The trial serves as a way to meet and discuss your inspiration images and ideas for styling. Once you’re absolutely happy with everything we can then begin on creating your perfect bespoke bridal design. I will then get you to have a look in my portable mirror (which you can then walk around the room with in different lights) to see if there is anything you want to add or change.  It is at this point I fully encourage my clients to really voice their opinions, even if they hate it!  That way we can work together to build something you are 100% happy with.  If there are only minor changes, such as more blusher or a little less bronzer, then it all goes down in my extensive note book ready for the big day.  Any major changes we correct together at the trial so that you’re not worried about anything before the wedding.

Stuck for inspiration or not really ‘into’ hair and makeup? Then don’t worry at all, as I will help create something very much ‘you’ by looking at your wedding gown, flowers and general colour scheme and theme.

How long does the trial last for?

You should allow up to 1.5 hours for a single makeup or hair trial. If requiring both hair and makeup please allow up to 3 hours. The time frame is based on an initial chat, practical application and feedback of the look at the end of the session.

Should I wash my hair for the trial, and arrive with or without makeup?

Personally I prefer to work with clean hair that has been allowed to dry naturally, with no heat applied. Feel free to wash the hair before your appointment and arrive with it wet or semi-dry if you like.

When it comes to makeup do whatever you most feel comfortable with. If you feel better having some on, or want to show me how you usually where your makeup then please do so.

What products do you use?

In my professional hair and makeup kits are products which I have carefully selected for their high performance qualities.  These products include; Anastasia Beverly Hills, BaByliss PRO, Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury, Dior, Huda Beauty, Laura Mercier, L’Oréal Professional, MAC, Makeup Geek, NARS, Schwarzkopf, Sigma, Tarte and Urban Decay to name a few.

Please note that whilst every care is taken to ensure only cruelty free products are used in my professional hair & makeup kit, I cannot guarantee this is the case nor that the products are vegan. It is my aim my 2023 that the entire kit will be both cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Do you travel, and are there any travel charges?

Yes I love to travel and visit new places! Travel expenses are incurred for bookings within mainland UK for every mile outside a 20-mile road distance from postcode SO41 at a rate of 45p for every mile. This is based on the return journey.

Do you cater to larger group sizes?

Yes definitely! An assistant hairstylist or makeup artist can be made available for your bridal group at an additional charge of £95. This allows the morning’s preparation to flow without any stress, and ensures that each person receives the attention they deserve. Please mention your approximate group size when inquiring.

Will my hair & makeup stay perfect all day?

In terms of makeup the only thing you will need to touch up during the day will be your lipstick and maybe a little bit of powder due to the odd tear! With hair, due to the complex preparation stage and pin placement, this should stay perfectly in place for the rest of the day.

I want to add some hair extensions to achieve my hairstyle. Can you provide these, or who do you recommend?

I would love to be able to supply all of my clients with their desired hair extensions. Unfortunately, due to my full diary this is simply not logistically possible based on a hiring system. The company I always use and recommend for clip in extensions are Milk + Blush – they cannot be beaten on quality, length and colour. They will last you a lifetime.

How soon should I book?

My diary is extremely busy especially for Saturdays, even in off peak seasons, so the earlier you can contact me the better! If I am unable to provide you with my services for the big day then I will always endeavor to source an alternative hairstylist or makeup artist who is very similar to my skill set and prices.
